First-tier cities see record increase in land sales, paper says

Land sales in China’s four first-tier cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, were up a record 181.7 percent from a year earlier to 472.04 billion yuan (US$77.51 billion) in the eleven months to November, Securities Daily reported Thursday, citing data from China Real Estate Information Corp. (CRIC). Sales in the corresponding period last year amounted to 167.55 billion yuan. Data also showed that land sales in 10 major Chinese cities in the period amounted to a record 792.89 billion yuan, up 121.8 percent from the same period last year, the report said.
