Huawei to pump US$200 mln into UK research hub, paper says

Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. said it will sink US$200 million into a new research and development center in Britain, China Daily reported Thursday, citing country chief executive Victor Zhang. The new facility will be located at its Ipswich research office which now has about 80 employees. By 2017, the center is expected to employ more than 300 senior researchers, the report said. The company will establish a finance risk control center in London. Huawei is committed to the European market, especially Britain for its investment climate, Zhang was quoted as saying.
