Online games lead way in industry income, CNS says

Video game revenue in China is expected to amount to about 123 billion yuan (US$20.23 billion) this year, with 52.8 percent of the income generated from online network games, China News Service reported Saturday. Revenue from network games is projected to be up 12.42 billion yuan from 2012, while revenue from mobile games is on track to be more than 10 billion yuan, or 2.5 times greater than it was a year earlier and around 8 percent of the industry’s total. Delegates at a recent animation, comics and gaming exhibition in Anhui were quoted as saying that leading game developers will continue to prevail, mobile games will continue to grow exponentially, and original game development will gain in popularity.
