Chinese-made liquid-crystal display (LCD) panels had a global market share of 9.9 percent in the nine months to September, marking an increase of 3 percentage points over the level in 2011, Yonhap news agency reported Monday, citing data from market research firm DisplaySearch. Chinese LCD makers reaped sales of US$5.46 billion in the first nine months this year, up 19.8 percent over the same period last year, the report said. In comparison, South Korean makers saw their sales fall 21.4 percent to US$26.12 billion in the period, it said. The Chinese government has set a goal to raise self-supply ratio of display panels to 80 percent by 2015, the report noted.
