CSRC head calls for better capital market rules, paper says

The head of China’s securities watchdog has called on the authorities to improve laws and regulations governing the capital markets, the China Securities Journal reported Tuesday. China Securities Regulatory Commission chairman Xiao Gang {肖鋼} said the government should amend the Securities Law and introduce laws on futures trading as soon as possible. It should also release judicial interpretations on infringements by listed companies, including insider trading, making false statements and market manipulation. The commission will soon revise its rules on civil payouts for false statements by listed companies. Xiao said the capital markets depend on a sound legal system, the report said.
