The Ministry of Environmental Protection is working with related ministries and commissions on an action plan in a long overdue effort to protect and revive soils across the country, the 21st Century Business Herald reported Tuesday, citing Zhuang Guotai, head of the ministry’s ecology department. Zhuang said the push might create a market worth tens of trillion yuan, much bigger than those set up to counter air and water pollution. According to unidentified sources, the plan is one of three major eco-protection plans set by the new leadership. One for air pollution was released in September while another for water pollution is being devised, the report said.
