Regulator bans Korea antibiotic products, Xinhua says

China’s drug watchdog has banned a set of injectable antibiotic products from a South Korean pharmaceutical company following its refusal to accept spot checks, Xinhua news agency reported Monday, citing a statement from the China Food and Drug Administration. The CFDA has ordered all ports to stop importing cefmetazole manufactured by Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., the report said. The administration had planned to inspect the production facilities of several imported goods, including Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s cefmetazole, to ensure their quality and safety, but the Korean firm did not accept checks according to a prearranged schedule, a CFDA official was quoted as saying.
