Japanese semiconductor manufacturer ROHM Co. Ltd. said it will lodge a petition in China and Japan against claims by the Chinese tax authorities that its Dalian unit failed to declare income tax on 12 billion yen (US$116.2 million) in profit, Kyodo news agency reported Monday. The unit is has been told to pay up to 1.9 billion yen in back taxes. According to unidentified sources, the authorities decided that the unit had cut its income by selling products to its parent at improperly low prices. ROHM maintained that the prices were proper.
