Govt vows to break up regional monopolies, Xinhua says

The government has unveiled an action plan to break up market monopoly, industrial monopoly and regional blockades as part of efforts to give the market a decisive role in allocating resources, Xinhua news agency reported late Tuesday, citing a statement jointly released by the Ministry of Finance, State Administration of Taxation, and 10 other government authorities. Taxation rules for firms operating in different regions will be refined, discriminatory fees for products and services provided by non-local entities will be scrapped while regulations that encourage market monopoly will be canceled, the report said.
