Swiss lower house passes trade pact with China, Xinhua says

Switzerland’s lower house, the National Council of the Federal Assembly, has ratified a free trade pact with China and rejected calls to put it to a referendum, Xinhua reported Tuesday. The pact will be put to a vote in the Council of States, the upper house, in March next year. The pact, which was signed in July in Beijing, is the first of its kind between China and a country in continental Europe, the report said.
