Shanghai home sales volume falls to 9-week low, paper says

The amount of housing sold in Shanghai last week fell to a nine-week low of 198,000 square meters, down 28.5 percent from the preceding seven days, the 21st Century Business Herald reported Thursday, citing data from property information provider Shanghai Deovolente Realty. The average sales price was 25,523 yuan (US$4,201.24) per square meter, down 1.5 percent from a week earlier. Analysts forecast the total transaction volume in December is likely to be less than 900,000 square meters due to tougher housing curbs in the city.
