Urban push on central economic conference agenda, paper says

Chinese leaders meeting at the ongoing Central Economic Work Conference will discuss key issues and release general guidelines related to the nation’s drive to attract more rural residents to cities, Wen Wei Po reported Thursday, citing a source with knowledge of the matter. The conference, convened by the Communist Party’s Central Committee and the State Council, has been merged with what was to be a separate national urbanization meeting due in mid-December to improve government efficiency, the source was quoted as saying. The urbanization reforms are expected to be gradually implemented from next year, the report said.
