Apple Inc. has seen the market share of its iPhones climb to 12 percent in China, making it the third largest smartphone player in the market, according to a report from technology market research firm Counterpoint late Thursday. The gain was attributed to the newly launched iPhone 5c and 5s models. Apple may become the number one smartphone player in China in December or January 2014 as the big three Chinese carriers have all signed cooperation agreements with Apple. In October, the iPhone 5s was the bestselling phone globally for the second consecutive month, according to the report.
