The National Energy Administration said one million more Chinese will be connected to the national grid this year and the entire population will have electricity in 2015, Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday. The government said providing electricity to all citizens is a Herculean task as China is a vast country with frequently inhospitable terrain and many remote villages. Only two years ago, around 500,000 people, or one fifth of the total population of Tibet, were without access to electricity. Now, everyone in Inner Mongolia has electricity, according to the administration. To meet its target, the NEA will connect grids to more destinations and more independent solar power supply systems will be constructed in remote areas, the report said.
