The Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange will open an office in Hong Kong on Saturday to encourage foreign firms to participate in China’s green energy market.
The new office will be operated by Treasure Carbon Asset Management Co. Ltd., one of the exchange’s license holders.
The company specializes in helping Chinese companies manage their carbon assets and advises financial firms on emission-related investments.
David Lee, technical director and low carbon economist of Treasure Carbon, said the Hong Kong operation will help international investors gain a deeper understanding of China’s carbon trading market and its efforts to reduce emission.
