Beijing’s Haidian to remove high-polluting firms, paper says

Beijing’s Haidian district plans to remove all high-polluting enterprises from the district by the end of 2017 in order to improve the air quality, according to a China Daily report Monday. Sun Wenkai, head of the district government, was quoted as saying that all coal-fired boilers in the district will be removed by the end of 2015, and that 41 high-polluting enterprises will be moved from the district by the end of 2017. Local authorities also plan to eliminate about 35,000 old vehicles by the end of2017, the report said, citing Beijing Morning News.
