High-speed rail to adopt market pricing, paper says

The market will soon determine the price of high-speed-rail tickets but regular rail services will continue to attract government subsidies, the Economic Information Daily reported Tuesday, citing sources with knowledge of the matter. An overhaul of rail prices is expected to be released early next year, the report said. Rail freight charges are also expected to rise to 15 fen (2.47 US cents) per metric ton-kilometer from 12 fen in the next two years as pricing moves towards a market-based system.
