Taiwan bourse may launch A-share ETF trading, paper says

The Taiwan Stock Exchange may launch a trading platform for A-share exchange traded funds (ETFs) in the first half of 2014, Securities Times reported Monday, citing the bourse’s president Michael Lin. The official also said the bourse plans to allow trading of such ETFs in renminbi and New Taiwan dollar at the same time by taking the experience of Hong Kong. Taiwan was granted a 100 billion yuan (US$16.33 billion) quota under the Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (RQFII) program earlier this year.
