China Mobile Limited (00941.HK) has given 17 firms the nod to become mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), the China Securities Journal reported Wednesday. The partners include Suning Appliance Co., Ltd. (002024.CN), GOME Electrical Appliances Holdings Ltd. (00493.HK), Dixintong, Shenzhen Aisidi Co., Ltd. (002416.CN) and Dr Peng Telecom & Media Group (600804.CN). Unnamed analysts were quoted as saying that China Mobile aims to expand market share via its MVNO partners, especially in the fixed-line service sector. China Telecom Corp. Ltd. (00728.HK) signed MVNO contracts with 16 companies and China United Network Communications Group Co. Ltd. (00762.HK, 600050.CN) reached similar deals with 14 firms in late October, the report said.
