Third-party payment service providers are prohibited from participating in the bitcoin market, news portal Qq.com reported Tuesday, citing unnamed sources. This emerged after a meeting between the People’s Bank of China and a dozen service providers. The central bank warned about risks associated with the digital currency and wants all related contracts revoked, the report said. Alibaba Group and Tencent Holdings Ltd. (00700.HK) have stopped bitcoin deals on their third-party payment platforms, the report said.
