GSK to stop paying doctors to promote its drugs, paper says

Drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline will stop paying doctors to promote its pharmaceuticals and scrap prescription targets for marketing staff, Shanghai Daily reported Wednesday. GSK also said it will stop paying health care professionals to attend medical conferences as it tries to persuade critics it is addressing conflicts of interest that could put commercial considerations ahead of patient interests, the report said. GSK is the first company to make the move, it said
