China Shenhua Energy Co. Ltd. (01088.HK, 601088.CN) said on Thursday that it has secured coal resource use rights at the Zashulanskoye mining area in Russia’s Trans-Baikal region, the Securities Times reported. The deal was won through Razrez Ugol LLC., a 50-50 joint venture with Russia’s Vostsbiugol. The mining area, spread over 74.39 square kilometers, has estimated coal reserve of 250 million tons. The site is expected to churn out 6 million tons of coal per year, the report said.
