Smog to persist in central, eastern China, report says

Smog which shrouded central and eastern China over the weekend will persist in those areas in the early part of this week, Xinhua news agency reported Sunday, citing a statement from the National Meteorological Center.  Smog will continue to linger in parts of the affected areas, reducing visibility and bringing air pollution, according to the center, which advised residents to take protective measures in outdoor activities. But from around Wednesday, a cold front will bring rainfall and strong wind, which will disperse the smog, the report said.
