China improves on-time flight departure rate, Xinhua says

More than three-quarters of mainland flights left on time on average between September to November, an improvement of about 11 percentage points on the previous two months, Xinhua reported Tuesday, citing Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) chief Li Jiaxiang. The punctuality rate at 21 major airports with annual passenger traffic of more than 15 million reached 78.1 percent over the three-month period, up 9.6 percent from that of July and August, Li said. He attributed the progress to a CAAC campaign launched in July in response to passenger complaints about long flight delays, the report said.
