Chinese biggest buyers in UK Boxing Day sales, paper says

Chinese visitors appeared to be the biggest spenders at Britain’s high-end department store chain Selfridges during the traditional Boxing Day sales this year, British newspaper Daily Mail reported Thursday. Chinese shoppers outnumbered any other nationality across Britain’s designer department stores on Thursday, the report said, adding that many even travelled to the United Kingdom especially for the Boxing Day sales. Global Blue, a tax-free shopping consultancy, was quoted as saying that Chinese shoppers were set to be the biggest overseas spenders this year, with each customer spending an average of £1,367 (US$2,247.67) per transaction.
