Hepalink acquires Scientific Protein for US$337.5 mln, WSJ says

Shenzhen Hepalink Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (002399.CN) has agreed to acquire Scientific Protein Laboratories LLC, a Wisconsin-based supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients, for US$337.5 million to strengthen the quality of the Chinese firm’s blood clot prevention drug, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. Both companies say the deal will expand their markets and allow better access to raw materials to manufacture Hepalink’s blood-thinner Heparin. Prior to its initial public offering more than three years ago, Hepalink battled claims that its product, made from pig intestines, was tainted, the report said.
