China game subscribers seen at 490 mln, Xinhua says

Game subscribers in China are estimated to have reached 490 million this year, with sales topping 83.17 billion yuan (US$13.6 billion), Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday, citing information from the 2013 China Game Industry Annual Conference. The number of subscribers rose 20.6 percent from a year ago and sales revenue surged 38 percent, it said. Client games are most popular with a market share of 64.5 percent, followed by browser games, mobile games, social games and console games.
