China warns officials over asset reports, Xinhua says

China has warned its officials to abide by the letter of regulations requiring them to disclose their assets and the earnings of their relatives, Xinhua reported Sunday. The Communist Party’s Organization Department said the authorities are stepping up monitoring to ensure the declarations are accurate, the report said. Officials must report their marital status, property, and their children’s and spouses’ earnings, overseas business dealings and other investment activities.
