Hainan hits tax dodgers with 300 mln yuan bill, Xinhua says

Hainan authorities have collected more than 300 million yuan (US$49.5 million) in fines and back taxes from 14 firms found to have violated the tax code, Xinhua reported Sunday, citing the provincial tax bureau. The companies evaded taxes in various ways such as fake invoices and failure to pay land transfer fees, the report said.
