Seven new high-speed rail lines begin operation, Xinhua says

China Railway Corp. has put seven high-speed lines into service in southern, central and western parts of the country on Saturday, Xinhua news agency reported Sunday. Four of the seven new lines are in Guangxi, it said. Following the new lines, the nation’s high-speed railway network now exceeds 10,000 kilometers, nearly half of the global total, it said. The network is expected to hit 18,000 km by 2020.
