China car output, sales ‘to drop next year’, CNS says

China’s car production and sales volume are both expected to fall next year as more cities implement car purchase limits, but new-energy cars could become a new source of growth, China News Service reported Monday, citing a report from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, production volume in the first 11 months was 19.99 million units, up 14.3 percent from a year earlier, while sales volume was 19.86 million, up 13.5 percent. Combined profits in the car industry in the first 10 months grew 22.4 percent from a year earlier, the report said.
