N Korea Nov coal export to China up 18% in value, Yonhap says

North Korea’s anthracite coal exports to China rose 18 percent in November to US$121.45 million from the previous month, Yonhap news agency reported Tuesday, citing data from Seoul-based Korea International Trade Association. Analysts predicted that North Korea-China coal trade may decline following the execution of Kim Jong-un’s uncle Chang Song-thaek, who was an important link between the two countries. One of the charges leveled against Chang was of “selling coal resource at unreasonable low price,” the report noted.
