Shanghai FDI up 10.5% last year at US$16.78 bln, report says

Shanghai attracted US$16.78 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) last year, up 10.5 percent from the 2012 level, Chinanews.com reported Tuesday, citing data from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce. Contracted FDI was up 11.6 percent to reach a record US$24.94 billion, it said. More than 80 percent of the FDI was in service industries, the report said, adding that strategic emerging industries, including civil aviation, attracted nearly 30 percent more foreign investment compared to 2012.
