3 Taiwan medics treated for H7N9 bird flu, paper says

Three Taiwanese medical workers are being treated for bird flu symptoms after coming in contact with a mainland visitor infected with the H7N9 avian influenza virus, the China Times reported Wednesday, citing the island’s Central Epidemic Command Center. An 86-year-old tourist from Jiangsu province is in stable condition, and was confirmed as the second imported human case of H7N9 bird flu in Taiwan Tuesday. The patient visited various scenic spots on the island and might have made contact with as many as 499 people before being hospitalized, the report said.
