Beijing Capital Airport 2013 passengers up 2.2%, Xinhua says

Passenger throughput at Beijing’s international airport rose 2.2 percent last year to 83.65 million, making it the world’s second-busiest airport for the third consecutive year, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, citing Zhang Guanghui, president of Beijing Capital International Airport Co. Ltd. (00694.HK). The airport added a number of flight destinations last year, including Mauritius, Houston and Chiang Mai, connecting 51 countries through 92 airlines, Zhang was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, the number of foreigners taking advantage of Beijing’s 72-hour visa-free transit — a policy implemented from January 1 last year — at the airport was about 14,000 last year, the report said.
