H5N1 bird flu outbreak confirmed in Guizhou, Xinhua says

An outbreak of H5N1 bird flu on a farm in Libo county, Guizhou province, killed 8,500 chickens on Dec. 27, Xinhua reported Thursday, citing the Ministry of AgricultureThe National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory confirmed the epidemic was H5N1 bird flu after testing samples collected at the farm. Local authorities sealed and sterilized the infected area, culling more than 23,000 chickens, the report said.
