The video channel of internet portal Sohu will expand its roster of American programs after the National Copyright Administration of China fined copyright violators, Global Times reported Thursday, citing business information site yicai.com. Sohu CEO Charles Zhang Chaoyang said tv.sohu.com, which is airing US sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, will buy the rights to more American entertainment TV programs, talk shows and movies. The administration fined Baidu Inc, China’s largest search engine, and Shenzhen-based technology firm QVOD 250,000 yuan (US$40,983) each on Monday for video copyright violations. “Introducing Saturday Night Live is just a start,” Zhang was also quoted as saying.
