China lifts 13-year ban on game consoles, CNR says

The State Council has ended a ban on the sale of game consoles after 13 years, China National Radio reported Monday, citing an official announcement. The move is part of regulatory changes for the nascent Shanghai free trade zone, allowing companies inside the special zone to produce and sell game devices to domestic consumers. China issued the ban in 2000 to control the spread of such devices among young adults.
