Govt to issue rules on arable land in 1H, paper says

China is set to unveil rules aimed at maintaining an adequate level of arable land in the first half at the earliest, the China Securities Journal reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed source. As part of the land reform plan, the government is making effots to ensure grain security by keeping keep its arable land from dwindling, especially amid a growing population and accelerating urbanization process, the report said. The Ministry of Land and Resources, which is drafting the rules, is also expected to release an action plan on intensive utilization of land in the first half, it added.
