Guangdong offers centralized electricity bidding, Yicai says

Guangdong government has completed its first centralized competitive bidding exercise at Qingyaun city for power purchases by major consumers, news website yicai.com reported Monday, citing the National Energy Administration. A total of qualified 86 major consumers and 29 power suppliers participated in the event, which saw a total of 0.5 billion kWh of power being traded, almost fully meeting the preset target, it said. Under a trial scheme of the provincial government, the target of such trade this year is set at 9.5 billion kWh, of which 2 billion kWh will be offered through bidding, the report said.
