Steady economic growth, low inflation and a promising future are making Shanghai consumers upbeat, Shanghai Daily reported Tuesday. An index of consumer confidence rose 4.1 points to 111.6 in October to December, a three-year high, according to a survey by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. A reading above 100 means positive sentiment. Shanghai consumers are encouraged by various reforms aimed at securing growth in the future, Xu Guoxiang, program leader and director of the university’s Applied Statistics Research Center, was quoted as saying. The survey polled 1,000 people.
