China aims to have a unified calculation method for nationwide gross domestic product (GDP) by 2015, in a bid to boost the efficiency and accuracy of statistics, Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday, citing Ma Jiantang {馬建堂}, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics. By then, all the economic statistics will be directly reported to the country’s data center via internet and all the data will be processed at a unified platform, Ma was quoted as saying. Ma added that the government will improve the statistics method to include online transactions in the overall retail sales data.
