Chinese solar firms face total eclipse in US, paper says

Chinese solar companies will be entirely blocked from the United States market if Washington slaps new duties on solar cell products made in the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, China Daily reported Wednesday, citing Sun Guangbin, secretary general for solar energy and photovoltaic products of the China Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronic Products. In December, US solar panel maker SolarWorld Industries America Inc. petitioned the government to launch anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into crystalline silicon photovoltaic products from the mainland and Taiwan, the report said. SolarWorld said the move was meant to close a loophole in trade remedies issued a year ago.
