Corporate e-commerce trades up 17.6% in 2012, Xinhua says

China’s corporate e-commerce trades reached more than 2.8 trillion yuan (US$462.68 billion) in 2012, up 17.6 percent from the previous year, the official Xinhua news agency reported Tuesday, citing data from the National Bureau of Statistics. According to a survey by the bureau, only 7.3 percent of the 308,000 firms surveyed conducted e-commerce trades in 2012, suggesting a big room for further development. The bureau had expanded the number of firms covered in its survey in 2013 to 900,000, including those in the finance and agriculture sectors, the report said.
