Govt to improve rural conditions, paper says

Housing authorities are considering measures to improve rural living conditions after a survey found most villages lack planning, 21st Century Business Herald reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. The measures include increased tax collection efforts to ensure funding for sustainable rural development, Zhao Hui, director of the village and town construction department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, was quoted as saying. The ministry may include rural real estate tax in its ongoing tax reform, the report said.
