China should have more public holidays and longer breaks during Lunar New Year, news portal Chinanews.com reported Wednesday, citing a study by top academics. They are proposing an additional two to six public holidays for employees and a weeklong Labor Day break, following the old practice before it was shortened to three days in 2008. The aim is to minimize congestion at tourist sites on those holidays when millions of tourists come to visit, the report said. The study also suggests that paid annual leave be optimized and better implemented.
