China December PPI down 1.4% on year, Xinhua says

China’s producer price index (PPI) fell 1.4 percent from a year earlier in December, Xinhua news agency reported Thursday, citing the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). PPI, which measures inflation at the wholesale level, declined for 22 consecutive months year on year, but was unchanged from the November level, it said. Annualized PPI for 2013 was down 1.9 percent from a year ago, after a 1.7 percent drop in 2012, the report said.
