China eyes cross-border FTZ in Beibu Gulf, paper says

China is planning a cross-border free trade zone in Beibu Gulf in southern China’s Guangxi region to boost trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Shanghai Securities News reported Thursday, citing the local government. The special zone will be initially established in Pingxiang and Dongxing cities under a pilot program, the report said. Guangxi expects to export the FTZ model to Vietnam, its closest ASEAN neighbor.
