Chongqing raises tax threshold for upmarket homes, website says

Chongqing housing authorities have raised the threshold for the top tier of the municipality’s residential property tax by 413 yuan (US$68.24) per square meter to 13,192 yuan per square meter, effective Jan. 1, Tencent’s qq.com reported Wednesday. According to various media reports, the average property price for new commercial flats in Chongqing’s downtown areas was 6,803 yuan per square meter in 2013, up from 6,389 yuan per square meter in 2012. The 2014 property tax threshold is the sum of the average home price of the previous two years, the report said.
