Chinese cellphone maker Coolpad on Wednesday unveiled its latest brand, Dashen, which literally means “the great god”, on its online sales platform, making it the fourth handset maker to enter the e-commerce arena, news portal Yicai.com reported Wednesday, citing a company statement. Dashen refers to both the online sales platform and the two smartphone models it introduced at a press conference Wednesday. It expects the e-commerce platform to generate 10 billion yuan (US$1.65 billion) in revenue in the first year while this year’s sales through all channels could hit 60 million units. The company will use other major e-commerce platforms such as JD.com to promote and sell its products, the report said.
